Commercial Renovation | Louisville, Kentucky
In Louisville’s Highlands neighborhood, creativity and contrast find their home in Hotel HiLo, a boutique stay designed by Natalie O Design as the spirited counterpart to Atomic Sound Club. Both spaces share a creative thread, yet each stands confidently on its own.
While the club thrives in energy and edge, the hotel brings a lighter, more playful rhythm—colorful, nostalgic, and full of character. Inspired by mid-century motels and the pop culture of the late ’90s and early 2000s, the design merges retro lines with modern tone. Bold patterning, chrome accents, and soft color contrasts bring together an atmosphere that feels at once familiar and refreshingly new.
Haustile’s distinctive tilework anchors the design, setting the tone for a visual narrative that moves through each room. The Gossip tile in black and white creates a crisp backdrop for beverage stations illuminated by futuristic sconces. In the guest rooms, Tangled in Sage and Gradient Stripes tiles add a sense of motion and warmth, their texture and geometry echoing the hotel’s joyful, maximalist spirit.
NOD designer Sydney Alvey drew from the exuberance of her childhood era to infuse the interiors with authenticity and fun. The result captures that same creative energy—a space that feels personal, cinematic, and unafraid of self-expression.
At its core, Hotel HiLo celebrates the joy of design without restraint. It’s a place that invites guests to step into color, memory, and play, reminding us that nostalgia and modernity can coexist beautifully under one roof.
