About Natalie O Design
Natalie O Design is a full-service, vertically integrated design and manufacturing firm based in Louisville. We offer a highly specialized suite of expertise including contemporary residential and commercial projects, art curation, and custom furniture and lighting design.
Unlike traditional firms that outsource execution, we operate a dedicated in-house manufacturing facility where the boundary between design and production is intentionally removed. Our process is defined by a continuous feedback loop between the drawing board and the shop floor. By utilizing our production arm, Ora House, we integrate high-precision fabrication directly into our workflow, ensuring every custom architectural system and furniture piece is executed with absolute material integrity and technical precision.
Our three-person team approaches each project holistically and with keen attention to artful details. We work closely with our clients from a project’s inception to its completion - advising on critical decisions ranging from build-team selection to the tailor-made finishing touches crafted in our own facility. For our clients, this means a seamless transition from vision to reality, anchored by the craftsmanship of our own shop.

The driving creative force behind Natalie O Design is a storyteller who understands that the most compelling narratives are built, not just told. With over 25 years of experience spanning the fashion capitals of Chicago, New York, and London, Natalie brings a rigorous technical discipline to her role as a designer and manufacturer.
As the narrator and interpreter of her clients’ visions, Natalie has evolved her firm into a vertically integrated atelier. She does not merely specify a space; she directs the fabrication of it. By providing technical oversight for the firm’s dedicated in-house manufacturing facility and its production arm, Ora House, she ensures that every custom architectural system and bespoke furniture piece is executed with an integrity that only a "sketch-to-shop-floor" workflow can provide.
A champion of regional artists and a native of Bloomington, Indiana, Natalie remains a voice for clarity and beauty in the Louisville design landscape. Her approach remains holistic and artful, yet deeply rooted in the precision of modern fabrication-proving that when you own the tools of production, the story has no limits.
Julie Metzinger
Julie has a fierce appetite for details and brings immeasurable strength to the team with a knack for planning and foresight. The combination of her accomplished event planning, unparalleled floral design, not to mention being a mother of five, makes her an unmatched force. Her heart for others polishes her skills with a rare and gentle grace. She fully understands the intention of the work and the importance of each element in the outcome. Once drawn to the artistic intent of the Natalie O Design brand as a client, Julie now ensures these results for others. Her extensive study and obsession with modern architecture and design lends weight in every project and tethers us politely in reality.
Sydney Alvey
A hire six years in the making, her addition makes us a trio of talents. A welcome hand of precision in every element of the NOD purpose, she refines our output and blends our senses with care. Her educational accomplishments lend to her field expertise and ability to communicate in a way that holds true to our intent. Working closely and communicating effectively and equally with architects, trades, craftspeople and clients in commercial and residential design and development, her passion for her craft began at seven. All roads since, including her love path, have explored and sharpened her skills, fueled by her pure joy for this work. Sydney’s respect for old forms and balanced modernity in renovation, coupled with her draw to boutique hospitality design, make her an asset. Dog lover, world traveler, spontaneous spirit and gentle heart…a soulful talent. The real deal.
