Cherokee Home

Residential Renovation | Kentucky

This project introduces a sense of youthful play into a Victorian home, allowing the interiors to reflect the personality of its occupants while remaining grounded in the home’s Georgian-influenced structure. Original architectural elements were preserved and used as a point of departure, informing a new color story that unfolds throughout the space.

Modern interventions are layered among traditional features in ways that feel unexpected yet considered. A custom entry bench was designed to resolve contemporary needs within the existing footprint and fits seamlessly into the architecture while bridging past and present modes of living. Sculptural lighting and tailored furnishings sourced through Humanhomeintroduce contemporary contrast, while textiles and wall coverings from Pierre Frey and Timorous Beasties contribute depth through pattern and saturation.

Color drenching and pattern layering bring depth and atmosphere to the interiors and create moments of drama within the otherwise formal framework. The result is a home that maintains its historic character while introducing fresh expression, where traditional structure and modern sensibility coexist without competing.
