Cherokee Triangle Condo

This project was designed to make the transition from a comfortable Tudor home to condo living feel seamless, comfortable, and deeply personal. Natalie O. Design worked closely with Wissing Contracting Company to bring the renovation to life, drawing on Wissing’s knowledge and experience with the condo building to navigate the transformation with care. Together, they created a night-and-day transformation, reimagining an outdated, sterile space that was begging to be revamped and infused with character.

Rather than starting from a blank slate, the design centers around the client’s existing furniture, art collection, and family-made pieces, blending funky new forms with classic elements to embrace an eclectic nature. A lacquered coffee table from Maiden Home brings a playful, space-age quality, while the kitchen by Century Entertainment combines walnut cabinetry at the perimeter with an exposed-grain painted island for an unexpected layer of texture.

Slight tweaks to the floor plan maximizes the condo’s limited footprint, drawing natural light deeper into the interior while maintaining a sense of warmth and intimacy. A burled oak pantry designed by Sydney Alvey to conceal an electrical panel and provide ample storage was fabricated by Ora House. With push-latch doors and a sculptural presence, the piece functions as both practical storage and an artful installation. Other custom elements, including wall-to-wall wardrobe cabinetry in the primary bedroom that doubles as a hidden entry to the bathroom suite, a reupholstered sofa, and handmade Rookwood tile, add nuance, warmth and craftsmanship throughout.

Every new material and lighting selection was chosen to complement the client’s existing collection. A ceramic lamp by Casa Alfarera adds whimsy to the dining room, while floral wallpaper by OTEA Textiles wraps the office ceiling, creating the feeling of a hand-painted surface. These additions sit alongside deeply personal pieces, including a coffee table made by the homeowner’s father and vintage lithographs by her uncle, David Driesbach, which were freshly framed to give them new life within the home.

The balcony was refreshed with special terracotta tile from Lucca Interiors, creating an outdoor space that feels as though it has always been part of the home. Throughout, bold color, richly grained woods, mixed metals, and unexpected silhouettes create a layered atmosphere where every piece has room to tell its story.

The result is a home where old and new exist effortlessly together, reflecting the client’s history, travels, and personal story in every room. Rather than feeling like a departure from the home she knew, the space becomes a continuation of it, thoughtfully shaped for the next chapter.
